A way for towns to engage and bring together their residents, set common goals and directions in a neutral and facilitated structure, and access resources that will help them take action on those goals.
Last year, the Rockingham Selectboard invited the Vermont Council on Rural Development to come to Bellows Falls and hold community meetings for a process called “Let’s Take Action Rockingham” that would lead to defining town wide action steps intended to improve the community and quality of life of its residents.
In 2019, VCRD completed its Community Visit process in Greensboro. Improving broadband and cell service was one of the priorities the community identified through the process.
In 2017, VCRD completed its Community Visit process in Burke. The “One Burke” initiative was formed as part of the process and local task force groups are working hard to move projects forward that the community identified as priorities.

Rockingham residents gathered at Bellows Falls Middle School last Thursday for the third Let’s Take Action forum with officials from the Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) to design three task force blueprints focused on long-term improvements for the township.
