VCRD continues to evolve with the needs of Vermonters. Since its inception in 1992, VCRD has produced programs based on the current needs of our state. Past initiatives have included the Digital Economy Project, the e-Vermont Community Broadband Project, as well as several others. Many of the resources of these past initiatives remain relevant in our work today and to communities across Vermont.
From 2010 to 2012, the e-Vermont Community Broadband Project helped rural towns realize the full potential of the Internet. e-Vermont worked locally to ensure best use of online resources to strengthen everything from education to government to business to community connections.
The Vermont Digital Economy Project had an aggressive work plan to deliver eight different grant services in dozens of Vermont communities impacted by 2011 flooding. It was a unique project in that it bolstered virtual infrastructure, and not roads and bridges.
