The Vermont Council on Rural Development’s (VCRD) Climate Economy Resilient Communities Program helps communities build and implement priority actions that increase economic vitality and affordability in a time of climate change. In the fall of 2023, VCRD worked with the Sharon Energy Committee to reignite collaborative actions towards community resilience. The “Sharon Connects” process engaged the community in collaborative goal setting and through the process, they chose three priorities to move forward:

  • Strengthen Community Connections and Cultivate Community Gathering
  • Address Substance Abuse and Addiction
  • Expand and Coordinate Outdoor Recreation and Trails.

Read the Sharon Connects Report and Action Plan for an overview of the process, the list of priorities and opportunities that emerged through discussions, the plan of action for the work ahead, the detailed notes from forum discussions, and resource provider contact information.
