Montpelier farmers market has multiple winter homes

Published in the Times Argus:

MONTPELIER — The Capital City Farmers Market is kicking off its winter season Saturday with a new website and a pair of new venues.

With the loss of its longtime space at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, the market will be splitting its 10 winter dates between Montpelier City Hall and Montpelier High School, said the market’s manager, Carolyn Grodinsky.

The first two markets are Saturday and Dec. 20 at Montpelier City Hall, she said, and will feature more than 30 farmers, food producers and crafters.

The rest of the indoor markets will be Jan. 3 and 17 at City Hall; Feb. 7 and 21 at the high school cafeteria; March 7 at City Hall; and March 21 and two April dates at the high school.

All the markets run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new website at http://capitalcityfarmersmarket.comwas created through the Vermont Council on Rural Development’s Vermont Digital Economy Project, Grodinsky said.

It features market highlights and products, vendor information, dates and locations, photos and seasonal recipes.
