MANCHESTER - The Manchester Riverwalk Association will be holding a Riverwalk Work Day on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting at the town green.
This spring, after a visioning exercise with the Vermont Council on Rural Development, the residents of Manchester chose to build a task force to "Redevelop the Riverside and open a Riverwalk." Now that task force is inviting everyone to come help bring this to fruition. This work day is the start of the creation of a path on the town green side of the river and making the project more visible.
They will meet at the town green at 10 a.m. and have a couple of crews cleaning debris along the river and cutting some brush in the area that comes down from the town green and over by Friends of the Sun. They will also have folks cleaning debris over on the current Riverwalk path on the other side of the river. (Entrance behind the old bowling alley) They will build a 30' boardwalk in one wet spot on the current path. Mostly they will be starting to make use of this great spot in the heart of town and letting people know that they are moving forward. Those planning to help should bring gloves, work clothes, bug spray and water bottles.
